One Year Ago

One year ago, I married this man:

We stood in front of all of our friends and family and committed our lives to one another and in turn, committed the life of our family to the Lord.

It was a magical day that truly was everything I’ve ever dreamed of.

And now we have been husband and wife for an entire year.

Throughout our engagement, we continually reminded ourselves that the wedding was merely the beginning.  It was the celebration of the love God has blessed us with for each other and the start of something much more sacred and wonderful than the wedding itself.  And I can honestly say, one year out, that is completely true.

The last year for us has been crazy.  We’ve bought a house, moved, started fixing up the house, both changed jobs, I’m in Grad school, while also helping to plan and get ready for my sister’s wedding.  Some days, I feel like I blinked and one year passed.  But, the amazing thing is that we have enjoyed every minute of this whirlwind.

We have learned so much about one another and our love for each other has grown in ways I never imagined possible.  I am so grateful for God bringing Chris into my life.  He is such a strong leader in every way.  He has a clear vision for our family that he pursues with a strength and determination that sometimes boggles my mind!  He has spurred me on in my faith, always encouraging and pushing me with loving patience.  My life feels so full and blessed and I am grateful.

For our anniversary, we went out to a great dinner and spent the whole time reflecting over the last year, planning and setting goals for the next, and most of all, just enjoying and loving one another.

And of course we ate the top tier of our wedding cake:

{Don’t worry…we didn’t eat the whole tier}

It was the perfect night to celebrate our first year and the many to come!

I’ll be doing a recap of our wedding and honeymoon on the blog this week.  It will all lead up to dear Ashley’s wedding this Saturday!

I absolutely cannot believe it is here.
