Easy, Affordable Maternity Style Basics & a Bag Giveaway!

This is a sponsored post from Gypsy Soul Collective.  All opinions are 100% my own.

I’ve always thought that pregnant women were the cutest things in the world!  For years, I’ve dreamed of dressing and accessorizing my little baby bump.

But who knew that maternity clothes could be so expensive?!  Especially when it’s something that you’re only going to wear for at most, six months.  It’s hard to justify an investment piece in my wardrobe for that short period of time.  I’m a bargain shopper, after all, especially when it comes to items that don’t have a long shelf-life.

I found some great sources out there for cheap maternity clothes!  Old Navy, Target, H&M…the only problem is that most of the reasonable clothes you find are very basic.  Basics are good, we need them, but sometimes you just want to feel special and like yourself!

I’ve found some maternity style tricks that give me the style I want, while not spending an arm and a leg on a whole new maternity wardrobe.

Here’s how I’m styling my pregnancy:

Layers

First up is layering.

Great Maternity Style Basics

1. Striped Dress | 2. Black Tee | 3. White Tee | 4. Black Leggings | 5. Skinny Jeans | 6. Olive Tank | 7. Black Dress

I found some great maternity basics in neutral colors.

I love neutral colors, but who is going to wear only black and stripe?  Not me.  In comes the layering!

I looked to non-maternity kimonos and sweaters that I already had or found cheaply to dress up these basic items and create all different looks.  I layer on different jewelry and accessories to create special looks from these simple, versatile pieces.

Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing “One Dress, Five Ways” showing all of the different looks you can get out of one of these basic pieces!  The layers may be something you already have or something special you find you want to purchase, but the best part of purchasing them is that they aren’t maternity!  It’s something I can wear long after Miss Rosie comes, so it’s worth spending a little more on.

Bright Lip

I’ve always been so drawn to the bold lip look, but I rarely ever sported it myself.

bright red lip

I’m not sure what it is about being pregnant, but it’s made me so much more adventurous and brave!  I’m trying things I usually wouldn’t and am not getting so worked up over tiny things.  Maybe that’s God’s way of preparing me for motherhood!  Who knows…

But, I’ve been loving the bold lip lately.  Mainly red, but I’ve tried other colors too.

It’s amazing how a bold red lip can immediately elevate a basic piece above.  A plain black dress instantly goes to another level as soon as the bold lip comes out!

I’m going to have to keep this trend once she comes.  Hopefully, she doesn’t mind being covered in red kisses.

The Perfect Bag

Who am I kidding?  I’ve always loved a good statement bag!  But during this pregnancy, I’ve embraced them in a whole new way!  Printed and fun bags are a new favorite.

Laid Back Maternity Style

Whether dressing up or being super casual (and let’s face it, I’m super casual 95% of the time these days), a statement bag really can pull it all together.

This tee shirt is one of my favorites and was a cheap Marshall’s find.  And my Converse All-stars are a staple.

Casual Maternity Style

And this bag.

I LOVE this bag.  It’s the Marley Indie Bag from Gypsy Soul Collective and I cannot stop wearing it!  I love how much it holds, but also how it immediately brings style to my basic tee and jeans maternity uniform above.

Tribal Tote Bag

And here’s the best part.

Gypsy Soul Collective has decided to give away one of these AMAZING bags to one of you!  I’m so happy typing those words.  I love this bag and know that you will too.

It’s perfect for enjoying yourself, or just in time for a Christmas gift!

Great tips! I found I only bought a couple items (maternity jeans, camis, and a shirt or two) and was able to jazz them up with scarves and cardigans I already had.

So, first, I love that shirt. And how this look seems put together but is just a casual comfortable outfit. I wore converses all through high school, but haven’t worn them as an adult as much. I recently found a mint colored pair and have been trying to get them out more, this look inspires me that other women are doing that too! 😉 LOVE the pattern on the bag. I think I need it as a comforter on my bed!

Love your style! I agree with the basics and have been wearing mine out. 2 more months to go until my little girl comes and getting dressed in the morning is a chore.

Love the bold lips, you will have to follow up with your favorite lipstick brands and colors !! Thank you for the opportunity to win the bag- it’s perfect!

Love these styling tips! I just reached 32 weeks in my third pregnancy, and you’re not kidding about maternity clothes being expensive 🙂 Thank goodness for accessories, seriously!
