Home DecorLocal Client Projects August 12, 2016 First off, I cannot start another post without thanking you guys for your amazing encouragement and love you poured out on me yesterday! It’s always so hard to be that raw and open in a post, but seeing how many of you resonated with it and took time to write and encourage or share bits of your story makes it so worth it. I love having each and every one of you here and your words were so uplifting to me, I can’t even tell you! Okay, in some ways today’s post is majorly shifting gears from yesterday. In others, it fits right in! In all of this soul searching of where I’m headed both personally and work-wise, something that kept coming up was needing to build a local community. While I adore my online community here with all of you and that will 100% continue as my main focus, I feel a need to connect locally and creatively. I’ve gotten requests to do local design work periodically over the years and while I’ve helped some friends at times, I’ve never taken on any clients in an official capacity. Well… I really am so excited to write those words. While the blog will still be my main focus, I’m thrilled to be able to partner with local friends in need of some design help or direction. I’ve spent this summer working on a really fun project with a client who actually lives in our neighborhood and it’s shown me even more how much I enjoy that and how beneficial it can be to others. As I’ve said before many times, it’s really easy for me to write off design as something that doesn’t really matter in the face of more serious things. It’s too frivolous. I should be focusing on something that changes lives. Well, as I’ve come to realize with the blog, I believe that loving your home and making it work for your family does MATTER. Surrounding ourselves with unique beauty that fits our style literally sparks something in your mind that eases stress and makes your home feel like home. So, if you’re in Greenville or Upstate South Carolina, like my style, and would love some help in your own home, please feel free to reach out! I’d love to help you find the home of your family’s dreams. I’ve gotten some requests from people in other areas and there can be ways to make that work, so please don’t let location stop you if you’d really like help. I’ll be working in the coming months on building a portfolio, but for now, you can see a good sampling of my style and work in our Home Tour by clicking on the button below. I’ve been working on a living and dining room re-do for the local client I mentioned above, a sweet neighbor named Vivian. I can’t wait to show you guys what is happening over there! I’m so in love with how her design is coming together and it makes me realize this process may be dangerous for me….I may want to put every design into my own home! After our living room reveal next week, I’ll share the first glimpse at her home and what we’re planning to tackle.

Gail Mahoney says August 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm I felt for you with yesterday’s post. I have felt that way myself many times. I so enjoy looking at your projects which make me want to do something to my home. I am not happy unless my surroundings are well taken care of and pretty to look at. Please keep up your blog as it brings joy to my day. I am 81 years old but my home is still of great importance to me as I see yours is to you. I also love the pictures of your cute little daughter. Stay happy….. Reply

Whitney Shortt says August 20, 2016 at 11:22 am So excited for you, Lindsay! I can’t wait to do the same some day. I think helping families create beautiful and functional spaces to live is definitely worthwhile. As a believer, Heaven is our ultimate home, and we know that God has made it a beautiful place just like He did the garden of Eden, and I think our homes should be a reflection of that beauty that He originally created and has waiting for us.
