Home DecorLayered and Neutral Living Room August 18, 2015While I obviously am loving some color lately (just check out my whole house design plan for our new house if you don’t believe me!), I started out as a neutral-loving girl. Y’all may not believe this, but our first home was ALL neutral. I’m talking the most color was gray. White sofa, tan and white walls, tan jute rug, gray pillows, that’s it. NEUTRAL. I’ve obviously added a bit more color into my design over the years, but I still love me some layered and textured neutrals. In fact, you may be surprised how much neutral The Buffalo Bungalow actually has! While I am using some saturated color, it will be sparingly and there will still be a lot of neutrals. When Zillow asked me to create my dream neutral living room mood board, I jumped at the chance. It was a fresh break from all of this color I’m pouring over lately. And it was good for me to remember how gorgeous neutral texture can be. As soon as I finished it, I was like, “Are you sure you don’t want a totally neutral living room???” I do love this vibe. Neutral bases, but with beautiful and classic lines. And then, some texture layered on top with fur and throws. And of course, you have to have a little fun. Some mixing patterns with the rug and pillows, some pops of metallic, and a graphic quote pillow really keep this room from feeling too stuffy. You can see the full post with all of the sources over on Zillow Digs here. Speaking of neutral living rooms, my friend Kristin over at Bliss at Home did the most gorgeous neutral living room post recently. Here’s a little teaser: {via Cuckoo 4 Design} She rounded up some of our lovely talented friends’ neutral living rooms (including her own) and this post blew me away. It’s actually what initially got me thinking about neutral living rooms! What do you think? Could you live with all neutrals? I love that all of these ladies have neutral bases so that they can go all neutral or bring in color with accessories. That’s making me regret the statement-making furniture piece I just ordered! Blue can be neutral, right? Can’t wait to share! *** To follow our renovation journey every step of the way, make sure you subscribe to posts! They come straight to your inbox when posted. Kim @ Irishman Acres says August 18, 2015 at 9:45 am I usually have all my bases neutral, because I like to change things too much. It’s easier to buy different colors of pillows, candles, blankets, etc if you need a change in color. And texture is my FAVORITE color….(quote from The Nester) Love your mood board!! ~Kim Reply
