Home DecorKid-friendly Halloween Ideas – BSHT October 13, 2016 After several years of doing a fall edition of Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours, some bloggers and I decided to throw a little Halloween edition! While I love bringing in piles of pumpkins and cozy throws for fall, I love adding in a little touch of Halloween once October rolls in. Around here, we don’t really do anything too spooky for the holiday. But now that we have kids, I especially love bringing in a little kid-friendly fun. For us, kid-friendly Halloween decor means pumpkins, some black and white, and even a few jack-o-lantern faces. My goal is to make our home festive and make the season come alive for Rosie! I love adding in a little black and white with the fall decor we already have out…a few touches go a long way! I focused on just a few areas of our home to really play up the Halloween vibe. For the front, I kept the pumpkins piled on, but added these large clay luminarios that I got a few years ago from Home Depot. I love them lit up with candles at night! I love having the front porch good and seasonal for welcoming guests and ourselves when we come in! Turn on your JavaScript to view content You can see our fall porch here. For Halloween, I changed up some of the pillows, added that fringe and feather garland, and a few pumpkins. It’s amazing how just bringing in black and white gives off a subtle Halloween vibe. I had the leopard pillow and stuff for the garlands, but the black and copper moon pillow is a new fave! It’s from Oh Joy’s new Target line and the little pumpkins are Target as well. Rosie and I play out here a lot and she loves picking up all of the pumpkins and climbing up on the loveseat. She loved the new changes! Turn on your JavaScript to view content She’s going to be a black cat for Halloween and while I still have to get some of her costume together, she sure loved trying on her cat ears. Last year, she was the cutest little Red Riding Hood, but now that she’s older, I want to try to pick something that she loves or is interested in. She’s recently become obsessed with cats and gets so excited to point them out in her books. So something she loves crossed with something easy to create and voila! A cat she will be. {my skirt is from Target and necklace is from Stillwell Style} Turn on your JavaScript to view content I love simple additions for the season to what you already have. Just sticking some black and white feathers into the cotton wreath on our door gave just the right amount of seasonal spirit. Inside, I brought in some fun Halloween touches to Rosie’s playroom. I really wanted to focus on spots she would enjoy most, so this space won out. I didn’t really set out to get nearly all of this year’s Halloween decor from Target, but it just worked out that way. Shocker, I know. Target is always a winner. These little black and white marble pillows from the dollar section immediately caught my eye and they’re the perfect size for her little chairs. Turn on your JavaScript to view content Rosie’s kitchen is one of my very favorite things to decorate for different seasons. I love using different patterned napkins or towels. This is a cloth napkin I have from last Halloween. Hanging some banners above it and using that top shelf for some decorations like this row of white pumpkins is so easy, but it sure makes this a happy corner. Both banners are from Target, but I added the letters to the marbled penants. The banners and marbled pillows are all from Target’s dollar section. I always find such good stuff there! I’m still so in love with last year’s Halloween tablescape and buffet. Make sure you check out the next stop on today’s tour, Julie Blanner! Yes, that often means tablescapes, inspiring interiors, and fun before and after renos. But it also means family. Faith. Joy. Struggles. Laughter. Health. You’ll find a little bit of all of that here as I share how we’re choosing to live with both style and purpose. A huge part of that is our journey toward a more natural life that’s focused on enjoying each and every moment together. A huge thanks to my main blog sponsor that makes this dream of mine possible:
