UncategorizedI'm Alive July 27, 2011I know some of you may have been wondering about me since I haven’t posted in two whole weeks! Yes, I’m still alive. It has just been the craziest couple of weeks. I’ve been in a two week certification class for teaching. It was much more time consuming and intense than I expected with tons of homework. But, yesterday was my last day, so I’ve made it through! It was a great experience that really prepared me for teaching, but I’m glad it’s over since school starts in two weeks. Speaking of that, I have a sneak peek of some progress on my classroom. I showed you guys my author’s chair: Here’s a little sneak peek of some things I’ve been up to for the room: I found the pillow first for the author’s chair and it was the inspiration for the rest: I love the blues and greens. I think it will bring a lot of life into the white classroom. I don’t know why, but the way this is coming together really reminds me of my friend Kristina’s style. She loves turquoise, which there will be a lot of in this room! So, thanks for inspiring this room, Kristina! Since I wanted to go with a writing theme, I knew I wanted to use some black and white, which this pillow has too. I’m using a black and white ticking stripe and a green print for covering bulletin boards and a few other pillows/details: I’m using this Avocado Green paint for a few details: And the posters I found are my favorite part! I wanted to continue with the writing theme, but provide some inspiration too. I found all of these at Hobby Lobby 50% off. I was shocked! I thought I was going to have to blow up some other images I had, but I think these are perfect: I’ve seen these all over the blog world, but this one is the exact turquoise/teal from the pillow (even though it looks kind of black in the photo). Plus, I think that the message is a great encouragement to kids. I love these subway style posters with the inspirational words. And this one is probably my favorite: It’s hard to see this one very well, but it is a chandelier hanging from clouds (and my reflection in it, haha). The quote at the bottom says, “Hanging chandeliers in the sky, we would again experience the wonder of the night.” I don’t know why, but that is so inspiring to me. I think it really speaks to the whole idea of writing fiction. It’s about having imagination, thinking outside of the box and through that, we create something full of wonder! I’ll be back with more updates soon 🙂 I’m so glad to be back on the blog…it really didn’t feel right not posting for so long. Expressing myself on here has really become a part of me – I really missed it!

Kristina says July 28, 2011 at 10:48 am Aw, thanks! 🙂 The funny thing is, you’re totally inspiring my Operation: Lighten-Up The Living Room, because I want to paint my dark furniture lighter colors and incorporate burlap! The mark of a good friendship. 🙂 I love everything you found, especially that subway art! Reply
