EntertainingFall & Harvest Entertaining October 18, 2014 I had the best time doing the Home Depot Harvest Challenge this year! Make sure you check out the full post on their blog! I was assigned dining room and put together a Simple Fall Entertaining Guide with my tips for throwing a fabulous dinner party that you can actually enjoy as a hostess. Today, I want to share our dining room tablescape that’s ready for a fun fall evening with friends. I started with this wool cape as a base for the table. I love the jewel tones, the wool fabric, and how it pulls the vibrant fall colors out of our curtains. My favorite table runners are always when I think outside of the box. I love using blankets, or in this case a fashion item to get the pattern and texture you want in a tablescape. Plus, then you aren’t just buying a tablecloth or runner you won’t use very much. You’re investing in something with multiple uses! For the place settings, I used a wood charger as a base with white and gold-rimmed plates. For the napkins, I used this fabric from Online Fabric Store and used my DIY 1-minute Cloth Napkin tutorial. One yard of fabric gave me these six napkins. For the napkin rings, I wanted something organic and natural feeling. I bought leather string in the jewelry section at Michael’s and tied it around the napkins as rings, knotting it in the back. Then, I cut fall berries, leaves, and Japanese lanterns from the wreaths that Home Depot sent me. I wanted each napkin ring to be slightly unique for each guest, so I chose different combinations of them and stuck them into the napkin rings. For the centerpiece, I wanted to create some ambiance with candles. I grouped a bunch of different candlesticks (which I’ll be talking about in detail on Monday), at varying heights and finishes. I really wanted to go with some colored candles instead of white. Especially with the white walls, I love the unexpected pop of blue. I really like using candles to add personality and an unexpected pop of color. Where you would usually expect orange for fall, I loved using these pale blue candles to contrast with the reds and oranges and pull the deeper blue out of the table runner. Ofcourse, pumpkins had to make their way into this room. While I’m all about finding a fresh take on seasonal decor, you just can’t do fall without some pumpkins. I love our fall dining room so much! I can tell that I redesigned this space in the fall. The colors are just perfect for a cozy fall party! Happy weekend, y’all! I hope you have some festive fall fun planned. *** Check out our most popular topics: Subscribe to our daily feed to make sure you don’t miss any Daily Doses of Style!
