UncategorizedHappy Friday and My Favorite Christmas Entry December 2, 2011Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ve got some Christmassy (I’m not sure if this is a word, but I love to use it) plans for the weekend with your loved ones. ‘Tis the season! I told you I would be back today with my favorite Christmas entry. I saw this one earlier this fall in the Pottery Barn magazine. It is very different than the simple images I posted yesterday – weird that I don’t lean to just one style. So, here goes… Wow. Have y’all seen this one? This just says Christmas to me. First of all, I love the front door and the mail slot (not that that has anything to do with the Christmas decor). But, this is just magical. It reminds me of what Christmas felt like to me as a child. It felt magical even if we didn’t live in a winter wonderland like this photo. I love the snow, the mix of trees and branches, the snowflakes, and MERCURY GLASS. Mercury glass has come to say Christmas to me more than almost any other decoration. I love those simple outdoor images from yesterday. But this is a Christmas fantasy. I just can’t figure out how you create this feel at home. I know that re-creating this exact Pottery Barn image would be overkill in our neighborhood, not to mention expensive and time-intensive. I was thinking about bringing in some branches in pots and maybe some snowflakes, but would it have the same effect without everything else? Any suggestions? I may just have to dream about this one and go for a more simple, but still very beautiful front entry for our home…
