UncategorizedHappy Birthday, Dad! June 20, 2012Happy 55th Birthday to my dad! My dad just turned 55. Here he and I are at a little surprise party we threw for him. My dad means the world to me. He has always been a wonderful supporter of our family. He loves his girls unconditionally and would do anything in the world for us. I’m so thankful that he is my dad and want to officially wish him a happy birthday here on the blog! Because he means so much to us, we wanted to give him a very special party. We threw a surprise party and all of the family came. Today, I’m going to share some pictures of our party theme and decor. Tomorrow, I’ll have more on the food, family, and fun. The idea for the party started with this picture that mom wanted to put on the cake. My mom loves this picture. It is of my dad as a little boy when he caught his very first fish. She wanted to have this put on his cake and it became the inspiration for the party. Going with the idea of fishing and the picture, we decided to go with a nautical theme. We used a navy and white ticking stripe table runner, orange gingham napkins, lanterns, driftwood, and rope. The party was held down behind my parents house at the same place we had our Memorial Day Party. Here’s what we came up with for Dad’s special day: We used twine and lifesavers to create the napkin rings. I love the nautical feel of these! We set up a table for gifts and the cake. We used this vintage orange floral tablecloth that my mom had. We made the penant banner birthday sign. I made a flower arrangement for the table. We used this picture of my dad from when he was little. We used this old oar… …and he even got a message in a bottle from my mom. We used this compass on the bottle and the penant banner. It was a special and beautiful party. I love how all the decorations turned out and think my dad loved it! I’ll share more about the party tomorrow and have a few tutorials on this to come!
