UncategorizedGrowing Like a Weed July 9, 2012Happy Monday, y’all! I hope you had a great weekend and holiday. We headed up to New Bern, NC and stayed on the river with my family. We had a great time kayaking, watching Gracie swim (she loves the water), playing some games, and eating great food. I love having quailty time with family. This was the first big trip for our little Gracie. She rode six hours each way in the car and did such a wonderful job! She slept in the backseat for the most part, but every now and then, she wanted to come sit in my lap in the passenger seat. My husband took a photo of this (yes he was driving, but we were at a red light), and this was the first time I really saw how much our little one has grown! If you follow me on Instagram (lifeofsplendor), you saw these, but I just have to take a quick post to share them. Since this blog is also a diary of sorts for us, some of this has to be documented 🙂 We got our first shot like this on the day we brought Gracie home from the breeder. Here we are together on April 21st: So precious. She warms my heart. And here she and I are together on the way home from our trip yesterday (July 8th). Keep in mind, we’re only talking about 10 weeks or so… How is this the same dog?????? I really can’t believe the difference. I learned enough about Great Danes in my year and a half of research prior to getting her that she would grow REALLY fast, but this is just crazy. Is it weird that I teared up when I compared these two pictures last night? I know she’s not a child, she’s just a little puppy, but oh how we love her. I must say, I love holding her like this. I wanted a huge dog (obviously or we really chose the wrong one), but I will absolutely miss this. A lot of times she lays her head on my lap or my shoulder in the car and wants to be petted. I guess I’ll have to settle for that… Thanks for indulging my emotional puppy love side today. On a different note, I recently got a blog award from the very sweet and talented Kelly at Talk of the House. I’ll be posting officially on that tomorrow. Thanks, Kelly!

Kristina says July 10, 2012 at 6:35 pm She’s so huge! And still so cuddly and adorable. I wish I could see her again before she gets full grown! Reply
Lindsay says July 10, 2012 at 10:41 pm I know I wish you could too 🙂 She’s going to be so big! Too bad we couldn’t bring her with us to Denver to visit Baby Atkins!!! Reply
Josey says July 18, 2012 at 11:54 am Oh my little Gracie isn’t so little anymore. I was just thinking last night about how big Tuckerman has gotten since the day we got him home, but it’s nothing compared to Miss G! We adopted Miss Layla when she was 1 1/2, so we didn’t get the pleasure of sharing her little moments with her – but these big moments are wonderful! On another note, my bathroom still isn’t finished! I’ve been busy with an intense negotiations course at school and my soul mate has been building a house in Cambridge. Hopefully we can get back at it and finish at least by Christmas! All that’s left is the backsplash, wall-mount faucet, vessel sink, vanity fixture and roman shade though….I tried to share pictures on your facebook group page, but for some reason they wouldn’t load – there are a few in my blog though.
