UncategorizedFinding Style Fridays: Anthro Christmas Lodge November 22, 2013 Welcome back to our second week of my new series, “Finding Style Fridays.” We’re spending this weekend decking our halls and I wanted to share my style plan and how I found this Christmas style. I knew I wanted to do something different for our Christmas decorations. In the past, I’ve done very neutral Christmas decor: white, silver, gold, burlap. I got a great question the other day. When I was talking about going for a simple, handmade Christmas this year, one of you lovely readers asked what I’d done in the past and was I starting completely over. On my previous trees, I had some basic silver and gold Christmas ornaments and then DIYed a book page garland, framed silhouettes, and used silver pieces as ornaments. I will be re-using some of this, but since it was mainly DIY, I don’t feel so bad about switching gears some. And as my style has evolved, I wanted my Christmas decor to evolve as well. So, I started brainstorming where I wanted to head. Retro, Rustic, Bohemian, Texture were the words coming to mind. So, I decided my Christmas style will be… I headed to my local Anthropologie (we live five minutes away – one of my favorite things about this new house!) for inspiration. The big things I came across were contrast and texture. Maybe that’s why I like them so much? I feel like I use those “style” words all the time. They had glitz paired with rustic wood. Fur with sparkle. Woven texture and color. Retro wool and color paired with quirky woodland animals. Agate. Glitzy, cool displays. Velvet and more saturated color. So, I’m taking this Anthro inspiration and pairing it with my love of rustic lodge. What does that look like, you might ask? Disco balls. Antlers. Retro, colorful, woven texture. Rustic wood. Glitter. Plaid. A little quirk. Some woodland animals. Fur. Ooh, I’m excited. I’m going with more color than in the past and I’m planning to thrift and DIY as much as possible. I can’t wait to share how it all comes together! My actual tour will go live on Monday, December 9th. But I will be sharing lots of small details as they come together in the next two weeks. Oh and I’ll be announcing the other amazing bloggers who will be participating in Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours soon. It’s gonna be good! Happy weekend, y’all!
Megan @ The Brick Bungalow says November 22, 2013 at 2:20 pm Fun! In Mid-Missouri, we lack cool stores like Anthro. I’d have to drive hours. Love the sparkles with natural textures. And I can’t wait until the holiday blog tours start, I loved the fall tours! Reply

Mykl says November 23, 2013 at 12:49 pm I love it! This close to Christmas and you’re going to thrift most of it? You go, girl! It seems when I have a specific plan and a short time frame, the thrift stores never cooperate. I’m excited to see your finished tree and use some of your ideas! Reply
