UncategorizedMy Eclectic Office – The Plan March 31, 2014 So many of you have asked for tutorials for the marble desk and tie dye curtains. Don’t worry, they’re coming! We aren’t allowed to share any tutorials until the contest is over in a few weeks, so y’all hang in there. It’s coming! I wanted to share some more details and my inspiration behind this room. After we made the decision for me to become a full-time blogger in June, I knew I needed an office space. I’ve been just blogging from the couch and that is getting old. I wanted a desktop, storage, and a pretty place that inspired me to create. Our house has two guest rooms that we had done nothing in, so one became my office! My inspiration for this room started with the desk. I had started brainstorming for the office, but didn’t think we’d get to it until June. When Creating with the Stars came up, I started looking for something to knock off. I kept coming back to marble waterfall islands. {via} I had seen a lot of faux marble painting techniques and thought I really wanted to try it! But only one problem…I didn’t need an island. But, I did need a desk! Inspiration quickly struck and I decided to go translate this idea into a desk. I immediately loved this idea and started building the room around it. I knew that two windows would be seen in these pictures, so I knew curtains had to be part of the plan. I wanted color and print. I was happy with the white walls in here and now, the desk was white, so the printed curtains were a much needed punch. Y’all know I’m a self-pronounced hippie, so I quickly thought of tie-dye. Not the usual ten color, crazy tie-dye, but something refined and a bit modern. Oh, I love them so much, I can’t stand it! I want to tie-dye everything now. Table runners, pillows, blankets. And I think I just might! I used the fold and clamp method for these curtains. It creates a more geometric pattern. You can customize it to create the pattern you want and you’ll notice we did that with circular shapes you see. And this was easy! Seriously, not bad at all. I can’t wait to share the tutorial with y’all soon! So, I had the curtains and desk figured out. But y’all know I needed some details! I had initially pictured an overdyed kilim rug in here with the white desk, but then came across this cowhide from World Market (they don’t have this exact one online, but this one is somewhat similar) I was on a tight time crunch with CWTS and didn’t have time to search and order one. But I’m so happy with this one. Great quality and I love the colors. And the ottoman came from Target. My initial idea with it was to have a pretty way for someone to sit opposite me if needed, but who am I kidding? It’s a foot stool, y’all! I so love lounging at my desk. I cannot wait until June when I can sit here and blog all day. That’s just a dream come true! I’ll be doing a dedicated post for the chair, gallery wall, and light fixture. Those details deserve their own post! Up tomorrow will be that neon yellow chair. I am so in love with it! I’m still planning to add some storage and function to this room and some more art and a few details, but for now, I’ve accomplished my goal: a pretty place to blog! *** And Creating with the Stars Round 2 voting has officially begun!!! Make sure you go vote for your favorite. Our theme was paint and y’all, these talented contestants can do some amazing things with a little paint!

Christie says September 20, 2015 at 6:35 pm I just stumbled upon your blog and love it! Just wondering if you ever made a tutorial for the waterfall marble desk – I did a search but couldn’t see anything. It’s stunning!! Reply
Lindsay says September 20, 2015 at 9:53 pm Thank you so much, christie! No, we had a SD card debacle and lost project photos for that one and a few others and just never had time to re-create it sadly! The faux painted tutorial came from Gorgeous Shiny Things, though, if that helps! The desk was really simple plywood sides and top with a trim piece to make the marble look thicker 🙂 Reply
Taylor Duggins says September 5, 2016 at 5:06 pm I love this marble desk! Where did you purchase it at? Reply
Lindsay says September 8, 2016 at 8:52 am Thanks Taylor! We actually made it and faux painted it! Reply
