UncategorizedDay 31: 31 Days of Finishing Rooms October 31, 2011Well, the final day is here. I thought about doing this series for so long and it’s really hard to believe it’s over. I just realized several things…the end of my first big series falls on Halloween, which happens to be one of my favorite holidays. Happy Halloween, by the way! And it also happens to be my 100th post on this blog! I think that’s a pretty cool milestone for me. I’ve dreamed of having this blog for a while and reaching 100 posts makes it feel a little bit real 🙂 I was trying to think about what I was going to post on this last day and it hit me that I have to post something about the holiday! Seasonal decorating is probably the biggest part of finishing rooms for me. The little bits of seasonal decorating I’m going to post aren’t in the three rooms I’ve focused on, but I’m telling myself that they are still finishing rooms (because I really want to show you guys and it’s taught me some things about myself along the way). But I guess the whole goal of this series was finishing rooms and in turn, finishing the house. So these fit! So, here’s our Halloween front door… You’d think I’d make time to hide the jack-o-lantern cord, but that didn’t happen this year. It still makes me happy 🙂 It’s amazing how much I’ve learned from this series and the main thing is to quit striving for perfection. I’ve been so busy working on series stuff for the house that I didn’t put nearly as much attention as I normally would to decorating for Halloween. The jack-o-lantern’s cord is visible and looking in this picture, I see the mums in the plastic pots they came in with the price tag still on and showing! haha! The old Lindsay would’ve deleted this picture immediately, fixed the problem by re-staging the photo, and re-posting it. But I’m refusing to do that. I think it’s good to show things as they are…real. As the Nester says, things don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful and to enjoy them! My holiday decorations don’t have to be perfect to bring a smile to my face and for my family to enjoy them. Here we are enjoying our front stoop… We’re just as happy here as if that price tag hadn’t been showing! The other room I want to show you is our dining room. This really does feel like finishing rooms to me because it’s decorating a main part of our house for the holidays! We had a little Halloween party tonight and here is our dining table set for the festivities. I love our simple fall tablescape. It really makes the room feel ready to celebrate Halloween and fall! We sure enjoyed it! As always, thanks for hanging around with me on this journey. It really means the world to have old and new friends supporting coming along for the ride with me!
