Home DecorBlogger Stylin’ Home Tours – Fall 2014 September 21, 2014 I’m so happy to kick off my favorite season with some serious fall inspiration. It is officially fall and in celebration, we’ve got 41 homes decked out for fall! {links to the entire tour at the bottom of the post}. In the fall, I love to drive through neighborhoods and see the front doors surrounded with mums and pumpkins. To me, nothing is prettier than simple mums and pumpkins gathered. I wanted a fresh spin on a fall wreath and went with a simple Dream Catcher inspired version. Pheasant feathers and fringe gives fall a boho touch at our house. I love that you step right in our front door to The Lounge and a view of the mantel. As I posted about recently, I was craving a simplified fall this year. I wanted more neutrals and room to let my decor breathe. The big antlers and sign came from The World’s Longest Yardsale and the vintage painting came from a thrift store. For some texture, I made some DIY Yarn Garlands to stretch across the antlers and drape along the mantel. It’s subtle, but I love what they add! To make your own, click here. To really let the mantel shine, I left the sitting area very neutral. My Eames-style chairs got layered with a sheepskin and a white pillow with gold and silver metallic flecks. The weathered milk can brings a little history with the white and modern pieces. I re-styled the barn wood desk that Chris made right inside the front door as an entry rather than a desk since I have my office now. I had the best time setting it up for fall. Green heirloom pumpkins are my favorite and they pick up the green tones in the lampshades beautifully. And they look great against the wood desk, I think. I recently found the vintage painting at a thrift store for $10! I love the color scheme in this little area. Spools of yarn make great fall decor! I had them left over from the Yarn Garlands and thought they looked so pretty in their little spools. The wooden bowl corrals them and gives them an overall statement. Even the mudroom got some fall sprucing. I was growing a little tired of the purple kilim bench and wanted some different colors for the fall tour. I folded and laid this old family quilt over it and it immediately feels re-covered for free and in a matter of minutes. The little mudroom shelf is just perfect for a little seasonal spirit. If you missed last week’s first peek at my fall tour, here’s a little recap. Our living room got a new rug, new pillows, and I am loving it! The kitchen island has such a great surface for working and decorating. I love having room for both! And the dining room got a whole new facelift in some rustic neutrals and rich fall colors. For detail shots and more details of these last few rooms, make sure to visit last week’s fall tour! Thank you so much for stopping by, friends! I hope you’ve gotten some cozy fall inspiration here, but keep hopping on! 39 more to go! Head on over to my good friend, The Nester’s blog for what I know will have some unbelievable fall inspiration! And here’s the rest of today’s line-up: Tuesday’s tours: Wednesday’s tours: Thursday’s tours: Friday’s tours: To see all of our DIY projects, click here.
