StyleBaby Red Riding Hood October 27, 2015 Since long before I had little Rosie, I dreamed of Halloween with kids. I’ve always loved the holiday and I could just imagine dressing up my little ones and heading off Trick or Treating. I started brainstorming Rosie’s costume last year when I found out we were having a girl. I had so many ideas…I’m stocked up on little girl’s costume ideas for years to come! But then we decided to renovate a house and move in the early fall, leaving Rosie and her poor Halloween costume to fend for themselves. This past weekend was our local Boo in the Zoo – another tradition I always dreamed of doing with my kids. I was determined to take her and was scrambling to find a cute costume I liked last minute. Now that we actually have her here, I’m realizing simple costumes are best. With the busyness of our life, I may have to forego those elaborate and unique costumes I’d dreamed up. But that doesn’t mean she still can’t go out after her candy in style. My parents gave Rosie this red hooded coat for fall and as soon as I saw it, I pictured Little Red Riding Hood. I searched around for some simple things to finish off the look and found this little plaid dress from Old Navy. The buttons up top make it feel “older” to me and with the little DIY apron and baby Minnetonka boots, Rosie looks just like she’s headed off through the woods to grandma’s. My mom whipped up the quick little apron for us with a piece of white fabric and a wide white ribbon to tie in the back. You can get similar small baskets at any craft store or from here. A little red and white check fabric was the perfect finishing touch. A red and white dish towel would work great too! It may have been super last minute and thrown together, but I sure do love my Little Red Riding Hood. I know I’m bias, but I think she may be the cutest baby on the block this Halloween. Cutest costume I’ve seen here was a three year old dressed as a “southern belle” – fancy dress with hoop skirt, wide brim hat and pearls. Also adorable. Reply
