UncategorizedA Chair Makeover May 18, 2012Hey y’all! Two posts in one day – wow! That’s a record, I think for me. I was going to wait and post this next week, but then I thought, why wait? I revealed our in-progress sunroom here, here, and here (just in case you missed it). This afternoon, I wanted to show you the chair makeover that I did for this room. I needed some chairs for the sitting area in the sunroom, but had very little money to spend on them. To me, this meant not a big comfy armchair, but more of an occasional chair. So, I did what I do and started the thrift store hunt. I found this set of two on the first day I was looking – what luck! They needed some serious love with the scratched wood and dirty satin seat fabric. But they were cane back chairs with all the cane intact! I haven’t found that yet…and I’ve looked. And they were…wait for it…drumroll…. $2.50 each! Yes, that is correct. I somehow (I’m still scratching my head on this one) found this pair of cane back chairs for $5.00. I sanded them down and primed them, but debated some on the color. I wanted something that wasn’t too bright, but not white or tan – the room already had enough of that. I found Valspar spray paint in Sage and it was perfect (Lowe’s). Here’s how they turned out: I wanted a neutral, but still printed fabric for the seats. I found this fabric at Wal-mart for $2.00 a yard! I was able to cover both seats from one yard of fabric, so very inexpensive. I really like how they turned out and how the color looks in the room. So, both of these chairs ran me about $11.00: $5.00 for the chairs, $2.00 worth of fabric, $4.00 for a can of spray paint. Pretty good deal, I think 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and have something exciting planned! We’re doing something tomorrow for our anniversary that I’ve been wanting to do for the last year! It’s nothing too fancy, but right up my alley. I’ll tell y’all about it on Monday 🙂
